Brimsdown is an area in north east London, in the borough of Enfield. It is to the south of Cheshunt and the east of Enfield. It is to the west of the King George’s Reservoir, and about 4 miles south of the M25. Brimsdown has its own train station, and is about 22 minutes away from Liverpool Street Station.

The name Brimsdown was first recorded as Grymesdoun in 1420. It has also been known as Grymesdoune, Brymesdowne and Grymsdown. During the late 1800s, Brimsdown was known for its large amount of small holdings and orchards, which grew vegetables and fruit. Brimsdown railway station was opened in 1884, and a power station in 1903. Brimsdown’s railway, waterway and power links meant that many businesses chose to manufacture goods in the area. As a result, the early 1900s saw the creation of many industrial buildings and suburban housing.

Brimsdown has a number of education sites, including Brimsdown Primary School and Enfield College. It also has an anglers club and two football clubs: Brimsdown Rovers and Enfield Town FC. Brimsdown is part of the Enfield North constituency.

Brimsdown gained media attention in 1977, when a local council house was allegedly the site of paranormal activity. This event was dramatized by the Sky Living series The Enfield Haunting. The show was screened in May 2015, and stars Timothy Spall.
